Tell the Commerford Zoo to release Minnie to an accredited elephant sanctuary

For more than 50 years, Minnie the elephant has suffered in captivity.

Taken from the wild in Thailand as a baby, Minnie was imported to the US at just two months old to live in a human home. By the age of four, she was sold to the Commerford Zoo in Connecticut, where she was used for decades in commercials, photo ops, and rides—all under threat of a bullhook and in conditions that can't meet the complex physical, social, and emotional needs of any elephant.

Minnie has a documented history of trauma and distress—including multiple incidents in which she lashed out and injured handlers and members of the public. Today, she's the only remaining elephant at the Commerford Zoo. Alone and confined, Minnie continues to endure deep and prolonged suffering. Elephants are intelligent, social animals who form lifelong bonds and roam vast distances in the wild. Minnie has been denied all of this.

It's time for the Commerford Zoo to do what's right. Add your name to tell the Commerford Zoo to release Minnie to an accredited elephant sanctuary, where she can live the rest of her life with peace, dignity, and the freedom that was stolen from her long ago.
