Tell EPA: Ban this Brain-Damaging Pesticide Now!
This is urgent — a toxic pesticide called chlorpyrifos that's proven to damage the developing brains of children could be reapproved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)!
Chlorpyrifos is a neurotoxin and long-term studies have demonstrated conclusively that children exposed to chlorpyrifos in the womb suffer from higher rates of a broad range of developmental disorders, including reduced IQ, memory deficits, and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Back in 2015, EPA actually proposed banning chlorpyrifos. In response, Dow AgroSciences, its largest manufacturer, moved aggressively to get the ban proposal lifted by exploiting the Trump Administration's hostility to science and EPA regulations that protect public health and the environment. As a result, in 2017 the Trump EPA reneged on the proposed ban and again refused to ban chlorpyrifos in 2019.
Now under the Biden Administration, EPA can do the right thing. If we overwhelm the EPA public comment period with opposition, we can force a ban or cancellation of this neurotoxic insecticide before it causes even more irreparable harm to children, farmworkers, and future generations.
We have just days until the public comment period ends, but if enough of us speak out we can ban this toxin for good.
Tell EPA to ban chlorpyrifos across the country to fully protect everyone from this brain-damaging pesticide NOW.

I am writing to urge the agency not to approve the proposed re-registration of the toxic pesticide chlorpyrifos and instead cancel its re-registration. Long-term studies have demonstrated conclusively that children exposed to chlorpyrifos in the womb suffer from higher rates of a broad range of developmental disorders, including reduced IQ and memory deficits, and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). A ban on the pesticide is widely supported by the medical science community.
Because chlorpyrifos is a neurotoxin, and it damages the developing brains of children among other public health and environmental issues, the decision to re-approve chlorpyrifos must be reversed, to save still another generation of children from the entirely avoidable learning disabilities caused by this brain-damaging pesticide.
I urge EPA to revoke all uses of chlorpyrifos on food crops immediately and begin the cancellation process of chlorpyrifos.
Thank you for your consideration on this urgent public health matter.
