Several members of the Trump administration have been caught wasting obscene amounts of taxpayer money on private air travel despite federal regulations strictly prohibiting the use of charter jets for official travel. The only exception is if a charter jet is the most cost-effective mode of travel, but no evidence suggests that was the case in any of the reported incidences.
Though he promised to “drain the swamp,” Trump has assembled the wealthiest administration in history.
Taxpayers should absolutely not have to foot the bill for their lavish air travel expenses. Please sign this petition and tell Trump to put an immediate end to this abuse of taxpayer money.The most egregious offender is Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, who has spent more than $400,000 on charter jets since May. Price has promised to pay back the cost of his seat on each jet, but that only amounts to around $50,000 of the $400,000 spent on chartering jets. (Price eventually
resigned over the controversy.)
Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt and Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke have all also been caught spending taxpayer money on private planes for both official business and personal use.
