Eddie Bauer Damaged Unsold Clothing Instead of Donating to Those in Need

A photo has gone viral showing what appears to be pounds of Eddie Bauer blankets and coats discarded on the sidewalk outside one New York City store. The items were not just disposed of, but shredded so they can no longer be used.

In a city with more than 60,000 homeless people, including nearly 24,000 children, it is unconscionable that Eddie Bauer would so thoughtlessly throw away pounds of usable clothing and blankets. Please sign this petition demanding that Eddie Bauer donate either money or clothing to a non-profit helping the homeless in New York City to make up for this egregious act.

When asked about this particular incident, a spokesperson for Eddie Bauer said that the company is aware that a New York City store had to dispose of some clothing, but that damaging clothing so it is unusable is not company policy. However, this is not the first allegation against Eddie Bauer for the same practice.

Regardless of how many times this has happened, or whether it is company policy or not, there is clearly a problem, and Eddie Bauer needs to make it right. Sign this petition, and let's urge Eddie Bauer to donate to help the homeless today.
