Help city leaders make Fresno a 5G city and support the availability of ultra-fast 5G wireless service for our community. If you want 5G here in Fresno, it is critical that your voice be heard!
What would 5G look like for Fresno? Lightning-fast mobile connectivity — eventually up to 20 times faster than 4G. As the recent COVID-19 pandemic highlights, reliable connectivity is essential and depends on having a strong communications infrastructure. 5G can take it to the next level. Imagine students having the ability to "interact" with atoms in the classroom using VR/AR technology or medical professionals at St. Agnes Medical Center leveraging 3-D scans to better treat patients. But 5G isn't just the next "G" in your phone — it's a societal game-changer on par with the advent of electric power a century ago.
And just like a century ago, 5G's greatest breakthroughs have yet to be imagined.
Mobile technology is reshaping the way we live and do business, and 5G is a fundamental platform for its continued innovation. 5G connectivity is expected to completely transform public safety. New augmented and virtual reality systems could help police officers, firefighters, and even airport workers keep the public safe during emergency situations.
But to make 5G a reality, and make Fresno a national "Smart City" leader, our elected leaders need to know there's widespread public support. Wireless providers have proposed plans to build the 5G network Fresno needs to grow, but to keep up the momentum, it's important your leaders see letters of support from community members like you.
Support the Fresno 5G rollout and open up new ways for our community to live, learn, work, and play.
As a local community member, I'm writing to support the 5G network for Fresno. The benefits to the people who live and work here, to the locally owned small businesses, to the students who need high-speed internet to study, to anyone seeking to improve their digital literacy skills — to the entire community, in fact — are simply too great.
- 5G will supercharge local job growth — With the potential to attract new businesses, it's estimated 5G will create some 3 million jobs across communities that build 5G and inject $500 billion into the national economy.
- 5G will improve city services, transportation and public safety — First responders could coordinate faster, sharing vital emergency information in real-time. Smart pavement and traffic lights could cut congestion. We may even see safer streets and neighborhoods thanks to better security monitoring and smart lighting.
- 5G will lower health care costs while elevating care — Raising the potential of virtual healthcare to new levels, and making remote care even more effective and accessible to those who need it most.
- 5G will provide a powerful tool to help close the digital divide — With this revolutionary competitive service, we can make concrete progress toward serving residents across our community with high speed internet, not just those in affluent neighborhoods. It could be the first step to bringing state-of-the-art network connectivity to public schools and community colleges across the region, and helping make sure children and adults are not left behind in our rapidly transforming digital economy.
This is our chance to transform Fresno into a national 5G leader. Please do whatever you can to help accelerate the 5G rollout.
