With the Inflation Reduction Act, the U.S. government has finally enacted generational legislation towards a game-changing clean energy future. But we are in a climate crisis with fossil-fueled heat waves, wildfires, and hurricanes becoming more frequent and more expensive; as of October 2022, the U.S. has experienced fifteen billion-dollar weather and climate disasters —already well above the historical average of seven events per year according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Now more than ever we have the climate solutions, and now federal funding in billions of dollars, to switch from polluting fuel sources to renewable electricity. What's missing is bold leadership. To make sure our local communities benefit from these revitalizing initiatives, elected officials must make sure we are counted.
The officials put in charge of managing our towns and cities hold the public trust, with a responsibility to the health, safety, and sustainability of those they serve. As such, elected leaders play a crucial part in helping communities secure a clean energy future. With leadership coordinating funding and support on accelerating clean energy development, hundreds of local solar farms could sprout along horizons, along with other clean energy options displacing polluting sources, putting the power to save money and the world in constituents hands. If we don't see leadership from elected officials for a clean energy future now, we'll find better leaders.
Legislation and funding have been put in place to move the needle towards a clean energy future. Let's make sure that we all benefit from those efforts, starting in your community.

Our poor air quality, toxic emissions, and fossil fuel dependency can be transformed by the new legislative funding for clean energy initiatives. We urge you: align with national climate initiatives, seize the moment by helping to direct funding, and advocate for the health and wellness of our communities.
The US government just enacted generational legislation towards a game-changing clean energy future with President Biden's Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. But with our climate crisis raging, including fossil-fueled heat waves, wildfires, and hurricanes, funding the switch from polluting fuel sources to clean energy sources couldn't come fast enough.
"Patrick Brown, co-author of a study on pathways to 100% clean electricity from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, said that "decarbonizing the power system is a necessary step if the worst effects of climate change are to be avoided. The benefits of a zero-carbon grid outweigh the costs in each of the more than 100 scenarios modeled in this study, and accelerated cost declines for renewable and clean energy technologies could lead to even larger benefits." According to the study, these benefits save lives and money, with a net benefit as much as $1.2 trillion.
We need our community at the forefront of this historic transformation. Now is the time for you to lead for revitalizing renewable power for every communitie. We urge you to use your office and authority to plan and coordinate our portion of the funding n for a clean energized future.
