Don't Let The O Go!

I was born and raised in Menlo Park, CA and ever since I can remember The Oasis has been our hangout and today we found out they are closing after 60 years in business! As a kid I can remember going to the O with my Dad for pizza and a Rootbeer and feeling so grown up as we sat in the large wooden booths with names of Stanford students past and present carved into the tables and walls.

Then when I was older meeting friends over beers after softball games or watching the Giants in the World Series. The Oasis is a Menlo Park mainstay!

Today, I found out the O is closing on March 7.  It is terrible to see this iconic mainstay of Menlo Park getting pushed out by a greedy landlord who wants to capitalize on the Bay Area boom and replace this City landmark.

The Oasis was opened in 1958 by Bernie Tougas and is still family run. It is truly the last original burger and beer pub on the Peninsula.

Please sign my petition and ask the landlords to reconsider and keep the Oasis open for generations to come!

Update #16 years ago
Thank you to everyone for signing and sharing your memories and support. I have been in contact with the Mayor's office who met with the landlords of The Oasis and they are interested in speaking with anyone who would want to take over operation of the restaurant. If there is anyone out there who would be interested, please send me an email by clicking on my name at the top of the petition and I will connect you with the City representative. Now is our chance - let's SAVE THE O!
