Tell Pensacola City Leaders: We Need 5G Wireless NOW

5G is rolling out in cities across the U.S., and Pensacola city leaders can make decisions now to support it in our local community. If you want to help bring expanded ultra-fast wireless service to Pensacola, it is critical that your voice be heard today.

As the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic highlights, reliable connectivity has become essential to our daily lives. As a result of the pandemic, many people have lost their jobs or transitioned to working from home and many students are learning remotely rather than in-person. Reliable connectivity is necessary to enable people to connect to their friends, family, colleagues and government services. It also allows doctors to see their patients via video conferencing. All of this is possible only in areas that have a robust and reliable communications network.

Ultra-fast 5G can help facilitate essential connectivity and take it to the next level in a way that works for our community. Imagine students having the ability to "interact" with atoms from their virtual classroom using VR/AR technology or medical professionals at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital Pensacola leveraging 3-D scans to better treat patients. But 5G isn't just the next "G" in your phone — it's a societal game-changer on par with the advent of electric power a century ago.

And just like a century ago, 5G's greatest breakthroughs have yet to be imagined.

Mobile technology is reshaping the way we live and do business, and 5G is a fundamental platform for its continued innovation. For example, 5G connectivity is expected to improve traffic patterns and completely transform public safety. New augmented and virtual reality systems could help first responders, firefighters, and even airport workers at Pensacola Airport protect our community.

But to make 5G a reality, and make Pensacola a "Smart City" city, our elected leaders need to know there's widespread public support. To build momentum to bring this cutting-edge technology to residents and businesses throughout the city, it's important your leaders see letters of support from community members like you.

A connected city is a thriving city, so tell Pensacola officials to fast-track the 5G rollout now to open up new ways for our community to live, learn, work, and play.
Dear [Municipal Leader],

As a local community member, I'm writing to urge you to fast track the 5G network for Pensacola. The benefits to people who live and work in Pensacola, to local businesses and to the entire community are too great to let delays get in the way:

- 5G will make education more accessible and interactive — Students will be able to transform their learning opportunities at all grade levels with digital learning applications, AR and VR experiences, and cloud technologies.

- 5G will supercharge local job growth — With the potential to attract new businesses, it's estimated 5G will create some 3 million jobs across communities that build 5G and inject $500 billion into the national economy.

- 5G will improve city services, transportation and public safety — First responders will be able to coordinate faster, sharing vital emergency information in real-time. Smart pavement and traffic lights will reduce congestion.

- 5G will lower health care costs while elevating care — Virtual healthcare will be raised to new levels, and remote care will be made even more effective and accessible to those who need it most.

- 5G research will spark further innovation — The development and testing of 5G-enabled solutions will help drive and expand the use cases for 5G from machine learning and IoT to robotics, AI, and more.

This is your chance not only to deliver for your constituents, but to demonstrate thought leadership and be part of transforming our region into a national 5G leader. Please do whatever you can to help accelerate the 5G rollout for the Pensacola.
