Support Legislation to End Cosmetics Testing on Animals

Animals in the U.S. continue to suffer and die in experiments to test cosmetics like lipstick, deodorant, and shampoo. The Humane Cosmetics Act will end this unnecessary cruelty by prohibiting animal testing for all cosmetic products manufactured or sold in the U.S.

Alternatives to animal testing already exist: Humane, safe cosmetics can be created using thousands of existing ingredients, and several non-animal methods are already available to test new ingredients. These advanced scientific technologies are often cheaper, faster and better at mimicking human responses, making them more reliable than archaic animal tests when it comes to predicting a product or ingredient's safety.

Help end cosmetics testing on animals in the U.S. -- just like in the 44 other countries where this outdated practice has been prohibited, including Canada, Mexico, India, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, Israel, and every country in the European Union.

By signing, you are telling Congress to pass legislation that would prohibit animal testing for cosmetics manufactured or sold in the U.S.

Dear Legislator,

As your constituent, I urge you to support the Humane Cosmetics Act, which would prohibit animal testing for cosmetics manufactured or sold in the U.S.

There are thousands of existing ingredients with a history of safe use that more than 1,500 North American cosmetics companies already use to create innovative products without the need for additional animal testing. For new ingredients, advanced non-animal methods are often cheaper, faster, and better at mimicking human responses, making them more reliable than outdated animal tests when it comes to predicting a product or ingredient's safety.

It is time for the U.S. to align with more than 30 countries that have already banned cosmetic animal testing as well as the sale of cosmetic products tested elsewhere. U.S. companies that sell their products in those countries--including Canada, Mexico, India, and every country in the E.U. (markets that cover more than 2 billion people) are already complying with those bans. In addition, 11 states have passed laws prohibiting the sale of animal-tested cosmetics.

Thank you.
