Canada Goose: Stop Torturing Geese & Ditch Down!
- by: PETA
- recipient: Dani Reiss, CEO, Canada Goose
Outerwear company Canada Goose is filling its jackets with down from abused birds. A PETA eyewitness exposé of a Canada Goose down supplier, James Valley Colony Farms, reveals that workers rounded up panicked geese who trampled each other in fear, grabbing and carrying the animals by the neck as they struggled with their entire weight hanging from their necks, and crammed them into densely packed cages for transport to slaughter.
After a trip from the farm to the Schiltz Foods slaughterhouse lasting over five hours, often in frigid temperatures, the terrified geese watched as others were shackled and killed right in front of them — until it was their turn. Some geese were left in the feces-covered crates for up to 24 hours without food or water.
Canada Goose misleads the public by claiming that the birds it uses for down get freedom from fear, pain, distress, and physical discomfort. The company tells customers that it is "deeply committed" to the "ethical sourcing of all animal materials" — but it's a lie. PETA has filed a complaint with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and Canadian Competition Bureau for deceiving customers regarding the welfare of geese used for down in the company's products.
You can help stop this abuse.
Urge Canada Goose to stop selling down immediately, and let the company know that you won't buy any of its products until it does so.

Dear [decision maker],
I just saw PETA's latest eyewitness exposé, revealing the abusive conditions at a farm that supplies Canada Goose. Panicked geese were crushed, carried by the neck, and stuffed into transport crates for slaughter. When they arrived at the slaughterhouse, they could see other geese right in front of them shackled and killed—until it was their turn. This is not what you advertise! I won't buy anything from Canada Goose until you stop using down and fur in your clothing and accessories, and I'll urge my family and friends not to buy your products, either.
Being able to trace the down you use does not make it humane. The only way to ensure that Canada Goose clothing is ethical and humane is to remove all down and switch to high-tech, efficient, alternative insulators. Please stop hurting and killing animals for your products. It's the right thing to do.
