Canada to Spend Billions on Kinder Morgan Bailout and First Nations Still Don't Have Clean Drinking Water

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently announced that the Canadian government will spend CAD4.5 billion to buy the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline. This deal flies in the face of environmental groups, indigenous communities and the province of British Columbia (B.C.), all standing firmly in opposition of the extension that would triple the amount of tar sands oil transported from Alberta to B.C.

Rather than spend billions on this environmental disaster, we can think of several better ways to spend Canadian tax dollars.

When Trudeau was elected Prime Minister, he promised to be an environmental leader. He also promised drinkable water for First Nations.

To this day, more than 100 First Nations communities are living without clean drinking water in Canada, according to the David Suzuki Foundation. And steps taken to fulfill promises by Trudeau's government are still falling short. What has Trudeau done in the meantime? He's broken both of these campaign promises and instead has agreed to spend the funding on the Kinder Morgan pipeline.

This is no time to be spending billions to put our environment at risk! Especially considering that many First Nations communities stand firmly against the pipeline in the first place.

Please don't let the Kinder Morgan pipeline takeover funding for First Nations drinking water. Sign this petition to urge Trudeau to back off the treacherous Kinder Morgan deal and put the $4.5 billion towards fulfilling promises to First Nations instead of the Kinder Morgan environmental disaster.
