Cruelty is going unchecked in Asia
In 2018, Marriott made a global commitment to go 100% cage-free in their egg supply by 2025. That promise included every region, every property, everywhere. But with just months to go until the deadline, there's one part of the world that seems to have been quietly left off the map: Asia.
If Marriott continues to fall short on its cage-free commitment, billions of egg-laying hens will remain trapped in small, overcrowded cages — unable to stretch their wings, perch, or dust bathe. These hens are denied the most basic freedoms to move and express natural behaviours, every day of their lives.
Sign and tell Marriott they must uphold the same standards for all customers globally, rather than treating Asia as an afterthought.
Dear Marriott Leadership,
I am writing to urge Marriott International to honor its global pledge to go 100% cage-free by 2025 and not abandon Asia in the process. Right now, millions of hens in the region remain trapped in wire cages, denied the ability to even spread their wings. Your commitment was a promise to end this cruelty everywhere—not just where it is most convenient.
Marriott has made progress in Europe and North America, yet Asia is being left behind. This double standard is indefensible. A global leader in hospitality cannot celebrate luxury and responsibility while permitting animals in its supply chain to suffer in extreme confinement.
I call on you to:
- Publish a clear roadmap for fulfilling your cage-free pledge in Asia.
- Act quickly so that 2025 does not become another broken promise.
Marriott has the power to help millions of animals. Please show leadership and keep your word. Guarantee that your global cage-free commitment applies equally in Asia. The world is watching.
Sincerely,
