At Ivey's Motor Lodge in Houlton, Maine housekeepers are paid minimum wage; $7.50/hr. It is my hope that after reading this petition and noting the the vast number of supporters that the owner of 'Ivey's' will decide to up Housekeeper's pay to at least $9.50/hr. The housekeepers at this establishment are hardworking people; some needing to pay off debt, others simply trying to support their families. And with the rising cost of health care, some are even forced to go without. I thank you for reading this and urge you to sign below, so that the hardworking people at this establishment and in this rural area will be better able to care for themselves and their loved ones.
We the undersigned, would first off like to thank you for taking the time to read this letter. Furthermore, we would like to urge you to raise the pay of your housekeepers to a more adequate amount. It is simply not reasonable to believe that, in today's economic climate, someone could afford a decent and debt free life with such medial pay. Many of the people you employ have children, pets who are part of the family, mortgages to pay off, credit card debt, car payments, etc., in addition to the basic cost of living.

I strongly urge you to implement a plan to raise your employees' pay to a more fair and substantial amount. Again, thank you very much for your consideration of this letter.
