Waive the renewal costs for Cosmetologists who cannot afford the cost of license renewal.
TThe Las Vegas Independent Stylist market demographic is almost 90% booth rental and with Las Vegas feeling the econo-crash as far back as the beginning of 2007, we have had our fair share of working around client retention, ( or lack there of) salon closures, and our alot of our stylist having to get a "second job" to support a career they love.
It is absurd that the State Board of Nevada, cannot waive the fee for a struggling stylist trying to make it in Las Vegas.
With people cutting corners on their budgets- the in-Salon services. (color, cuts and chemical services) are put on the back burner in exchange for OTC box color and "kitchen cosmetology" by an unlicensed friend or neighbor assisting them for a quick bang trim or cutting their kids hair themselves.
Where is the State Board in helping support the local stylist of Nevada? ie Vegas for that matter?
How are they helping to bring new life to a struggling profession- on a LOCAL level?
Las Vegas relies on so heavily on the beauty industry.
Our fair city is FILLED with Stage performers, Musicians and Entertainers that utilize our services around the clock.
If a stylist cannot afford to pay the renewal fee... the State Board should waive it giving the stylist a fair shake at making a buck...to helpnot hinder.
Late fees, as of present, are $20.00 a month each month not renewed.
A stylist who has not renewed in a year ( ie on maternity leave, gone due to illness or just having to take another job, or just plain couldn't afford to renew)would have to pay $240.00 to get back into the swing of things.
Absurd.
Please sign this petition to help implement a waiver so those who are starting to reinstate their licenses have an opportunity to do so without having to work under the radar until they could afford to do so, only incurring more fees.
Thank you for your support
Sincerely,
