Restore Affordable Birth Control

In the last year, a lot of women and their partners saw the price of their birth control skyrocket. Shocking, isn't it! Do you know why?

Due to an error in legislation you've probably never heard of (the 2005 Deficit Reduction Act), health centers on college campuses and community family-planning clinics no longer receive birth control at a discount... which basically means the people who rely on these centers are paying a WHOLE LOT more for the same pills than they used to. Some college students report that the cost of birth control is doubling sometimes even tripling on their campuses.

Fixing this mistake is a no-brainer and it won't cost the government a single penny but the cost of the mistake adds up for women and their partners everyday! Tell your member of Congress to fix the birth-control pricing crisis by cosponsoring the Prevention Through Affordable Access Act.
Dear Congress member [Name],

The Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 inadvertently caused contraceptive prescription prices around the country to skyrocket. The bipartisan Prevention Through Affordable Access Act was recently introduced to remedy this problem. It is critical that this bill move quickly before more women find themselves no longer able to afford their prescription birth control.

Access to affordable contraception is vitally important. The price increase could force young women to go off birth control, and we all know that birth control is crucial to reducing unintended pregnancy and thus the need for abortion.

This legislative fix to the problem would not cost taxpayers even a single penny.

I urge you to work quickly to ensure its passage.

Sincerely,
