Our Forests Are in Trouble

Forests are ecological powerhouses that support the livelihoods of 1.6 billion people and host 80 percent of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. That includes 80 percent of all amphibian species, 75 percent of birds, and 68 percent of mammals. With deforestation hitting record rates, these essential ecosystems are under threat.
At the Rainforest Alliance, we're tackling this threat through our new Regenerative Agriculture Standard. On farms that practice regenerative agriculture, nature can recover and thrive. Under the standard, farmers take steps to preserve and restore surrounding ecosystems, such as maintaining a diverse variety of trees to create habitats for wildlife and insects, using nature-friendly approaches to pest control, and protecting farm biodiversity from the ground up with natural vegetation.
Take La Cumplida, a coffee farm in the highlands of Nicaragua and the first farm in the world to become Rainforest Alliance Certified Regenerative. From a forest canopy that now attracts 240 bird species to soil teeming with different bacteria, fungi, earthworms and insects, La Cumplida's farmers have seen a remarkable boon to biodiversity by implementing regenerative practices.
Together, we can protect the world's forests and all life within for generations to come. Sign up to show your support for a regenerative future.
