Stop Euthanizing Adoptable Animals In Shelters

Target:
animal lovers, dog and cat owners, animal rights activists
Sponsored by:
Please sign this petition to stop the killing of adoptable animals in shelters.  We are asking that every county in every state stop euthanizing adoptable animals in shelters.  Every day there are thousands of animals that are dragged into gas chambers, stuck with heart sticks or euthanized by leathal injection.  There are approximately 5 million dogs and puppies and many more millions of cats and kittens that are needlessly put to death every year in this country alone.  America needs new and relatively obvious  laws-- such as laws making it mandatory to spay and neuter every adopted pet and outlawing puppymill breeding.  These two changes would drastically reduce the huge numbers of animals being taken in to the shelters annually.  Most people care deeply for their pets and for animals in general, but they are unaware of how many are put to death--some by horrifically inhumane means every day.  Please sign this petition to end the currently legal and inhumane killing of these loving animals--they are counting on us to save them!  Thank you for caring and signing this petition.

These poor animals deserve the right to LIVE! They are, living, breathing beings with emotions and intelligence. They give us unconditional love, that simply does not exist in even humans now a days. We must open new dog shelters, we must raise the amount of dogs or cats allowed per household to atleast 4 or even 5. Perhaps depending on size of lot. How can you look into the eyes of these beautiful creatures and sentence them to death because they are no longer wanted. There is someone out there that will want them. Big or small, ugly or cute, they all want to be loved and want to play and love you back. I went to East Valley Shelter, CA for the first time in 10 years, and I was so heart broken, first 20 steps into the shelter and I was in total tears and could not control myself from crying. My first instinct was to take them all home. But how could I? Its not possible. But I am sure there are many people out there like me who would love to adopt them as a new family member. Please make our shelters a NO KILL shelter quickly before more innocent lives are lost. There must be a way to save these loving pets from death. The person who puts these animals down, how does he or she have the heart to do so every single day. Knowing they are healthy, knowing they can be cured, knowing that there is nothing wrong with them and there time just hasnt come for the right person to fall in love and adopt them. I am a firm believer that everything and everyone has there day. So do these dogs and cats. Please help them. Please Please Please!!! I beg of you. Somebody do something. Find it in your hearts!!! Look into there eyes. Even the scarriest looking ones like Pits have a tender bone and a soft heart. Teach the public to better train there pets. Edjucate the public the necessities of spaying and neutering there pets. We fine and lock those who abuse pets, but then again the city shelters kill them because they have over stayed and in some cases under stayed there stay. How is that right? How is that fair? How is that civilized? Perhaps these pets who are not being adopted, perhaps there should be incentives program. Where they get tax breaks for taking care of these red listed pets, or food stamps for dog food? Just some ideas. Give apartment building owners more incentives for leasing to people who have pets to encourage more pet adoptions. Please give them a chance to live. Please do something. Everything should not be a paper trail, or a legal issue. Although everything should be done legally. Lets not wait, lets fix the issues. Nothing is getting resolved. Everyone is simply seeking there bottom dollar. While they die! 4 of the ones I saw at the shelter have been euthanized. And there was nothing wrong with them. Why! Why! Why! Why did they die?! Get up And DO SOMETHING! Please! I beg of you, they deserve better. Thank You.

I have seen videos on this matter and I am appalled! We have numerous gas chamber shelters around our area and I hope that through our efforts we can get them all shut down for good! Animals do not deserve to be put down that way. All they want is to be loved, is that so much to ask for?! And what do we do to them?! - We put numerous cats and dogs in a chamber together and we slowly kill them cause they don't get adopted as quickly as they hope. I swear the people that do this to these precious animals must be cold hearted to do this for a living :'(. How would you feel if this was done to one of your family members?! They don't have a voice, but we do, let's speak up for them and stop this hypocrisy once and for all.

Instead, ban all puppy mills and create laws requiring that all adopted animals be spayed and neutered. The "owners" of the pets should be punished for abandoning their pets, throwing them away as dirt. There should be a law that makes cruelty and neclect of animals a serious crime

Stop this unnecessary and cruel treatment of animals NOW! It's inhumane and senseless.

As long as there is no structural, fundamental change in the human attitude to their pets, there will be no hope at all and this massacre will go on and go on. The "owners" of the pets should be punished in the first place when they abandoned their pets, don't neuter of spay them, throwing them away as dirt. There should be a law that makes cruelty and neclect of animals a crime.
