Trump has disgraced the presidency. Tell Congress: Refuse to applaud at the State of the Union

It wasn't long ago that the State of the Union was the president's opportunity to reflect on the past year and set forth a lofty vision for the year to come. But it feels like a distant memory.

There will be nothing noble about the speech President Trump gives tonight. As with all things Trump, we can expect his first State of the Union to be a divisive, bigotry-fueled spectacle designed to fire up his base and alienate the majority of our country and world.

Tell Congress not to stand for it — literally.

Members of Congress frequently stand and applaud the president's words as much to respect the office as its inhabitant. But over the last twelve months, President Trump has shocked even his critics with the degree to which he has degraded the once prestigious office he now holds.

Add your name to tell Congress this year is different. President Trump deserves the same respect he has given his office: none.
