This State Is Pretending Marriage Equality Doesn't Apply To Them!

Far-right Republicans in Tennessee are currently preparing legislation to once again ban gay marriage in defiance (!!) of the 2015 Supreme Court ruling that marriage equality was the law of the land.

According to these far-right conservatives, the Supreme Court's ruling doesn't apply to Tennessee because the state already had marriage laws prior to the Obergefell decision (spoiler alert: every single state did!)

They think since marriage is a "state matter" they can ignore the Supreme Court and re-instate discriminatory laws that kick LGBQT+ Americans back out into the cold.
