U.S. Plans to Skip World's Most Important Climate Change Conference on Trump's Orders

It's no secret that the current U.S. president is a climate change denier. In a recent UN speech, Trump enthusiastically spewed lies about the defining environmental crisis of our time, calling climate change "the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world" and "a hoax."

Now, in line with Trump's denialist position, the administration is refusing to attend COP30, the most important climate change conference in the world. This is the first time the U.S. has ever outright refused participation.

Sign the petition to tell the Trump Administration: U.S. officials must attend COP30! Addressing climate change is more dire than ever!

COP30 is a conference led by the U.N. that focuses on international cooperation to slow and reverse climate change. This year's conference will be held from November 10th through 21st in Brazil - and the U.S. will not be one of the global participants.

Denying climate change is no longer a matter of refusing to believe science - it is denying our lived reality and condemning us to a terrifying future.

In the past year alone, Americans have watched homes full of people literally wash away before their eyes in Texas, entire towns crumble from the recent typhoon in Alaska, and homes in California ignite and burn in mere minutes. And these disasters weren't just scary to witness - for many, they were fatal. Over 100 people and countless animals died during the Texas floods. While the official death count of the LA fires is 41, research estimates as many as 440 deaths can be attributed to the devastating fires. And these are just recent events in the U.S., let alone the rest of the world.

These apocalyptic floods and fires aren't random. They're directly related to climate change, and they're only going to get worse if world leaders don't act soon.

Refusing to send U.S. officials to COP30 isn't just an embarrassing political position, it is likely a death sentence to the victims of the next climate disaster. There is no excuse for the United States to not attend the most important climate change conference in the world, and it's time the Trump Administration commit to sending U.S. officials to COP30 this year.
