Solve the Climate Crisis Using the Military's $800 Billion Government Funding!

The U.S. military is the largest military on the whole planet, and other countries' military sizes don't even come close. Receiving a whopping $800 billion every year in government funding, the U.S. military alone emits more greenhouse gasses than the majority of entire nations. In fact, out of the whole U.S. government, the Department of Defense uses almost 80% of its consumption of fuel.

Yet the Department of Defense has literally never passed a single government financial audit.

It is time for Congress to stop wasting money and defund the military. It must invest billions in tackling climate change instead!

Sign now to demand Congress reduce the military budget, and fund programs and research that will help solve the climate crisis!

The U.S. military is notoriously spotty about reporting just exactly how much damage it does to the environment around the world. That's similar to how bad it is at accounting for the hundreds of billions of dollars it receives each year. But evidence tells us its climate damage is worse than many Americans previously thought.

A single Humvee vehicle provides somewhere between 4-8 miles of transit per gallon of fuel used. An F-35 fighter jet is even worse, requiring 2.37 gallons per each mile.

That doesn't even include the environmental impact of military testing and military operations around the world. Just this year, the Navy leaked 20,000 gallons of fuel into a well in Hawaii, devastating a key water source for nearby families.

One report even found that the military has emitted more than 1.2 billion metric tons of greenhouse gases since the beginning of the War on Terror in 2001.

The clock is ticking on decarbonizing the planet and solving the ecological crisis we have found ourselves in before it is too late. Congress must finally heed the calls of so many Americans and defund the military to put money into solving the climate crisis instead! Sign the petition now if you agree!
