Texas Has the Wealth to Feed Every Student. It's Time to Act.

Renowned for its robust economy, Texas ironically faces a disheartening level of food insecurity among its youngest residents. The Lone Star State can, and should, make a powerful change: Tax its most affluent residents to guarantee every public-school student a free weekday meal.

Massachusetts just set a precedent, using a 4% tax on its millionaires to ensure no child learns on an empty stomach. This simple tax adds $1 billion to the state's budget. Texas, with one of the highest counts of millionaires in the nation, has both the means and the duty to follow suit.

Sign the petition: Urge Texas to initiate a millionaire tax for the well-being of its students!

The affluence in Texas is undeniable, yet so is the stark reality of child hunger. The contrast is jarring. In a state so prosperous, no child should grapple with the pangs of hunger in the classroom.

"Free universal school meals will change lives," stated MA Rep. Jim McGovern. With food insecurity rampant in Texas, especially post-pandemic, addressing child hunger becomes more pressing than ever.

Join the call for Texas to make a stand: Harness the state's wealth to nourish its future. Adopt a millionaire tax and ensure every Texan child thrives with the benefit of a hearty school meal!
