Tell the Senate to Protect Gay Marriage!

  • av: OD Action

Following the overturn of Roe v. Wade, it became shockingly clear that abortion isn't our only right at stake. This isn't something they're hiding anymore — Justice Clarence Thomas said point blank that he believes the Supreme Court should reconsider the gay marriage decision, some seven years after gay marriage was finally legalized through the landmark Obergefell v. Hodges case.

It seems almost unbelievable that our legislators would have to codify the right to equal marriage, but it's a step that we've been forced to take due to extremism in Trump's radical judges.

This is not legislation powered by some "fit of hysteria" as anti-LGBTQ+ conservatives like insurrectionist Matt Gaetz want to believe — this is a necessary safeguard from a tangible threat to our right to love.

Add your name to tell the Senate to pass the Respect for Marriage Act!

To add insult to injury — 157 House Republicans voted against codifying Obergefell v. Hodges. In a split Senate, the Respect for Marriage Act faces an even tougher road ahead without our support.

While some members of Congress attempted to cloak their homophobia by deeming the bill unnecessary, like Ohio Representative Jim Jordan, others weren't shy at all. Trump-favorite Marjorie Taylor Greene proudly broadcast her bigotry, saying "marriage is between a man and a woman and that's how God created it" before casting her vote. Vicious and cruel legislators like this are exactly why we need to enshrine LGBTQ+ rights into law as quickly as possible.
