End the Delay. The UK Must Finally Pass a Full Ban on Conversion Therapy.

Seven years ago, the UK promised to ban conversion therapy. Seven years later, LGBTQ+ people are still being subjected to degrading, abusive practices aimed at changing who they are.

Every delay sends a dangerous message: that LGBTQ+ lives are negotiable. That safety is optional. That abuse can continue while politicians hesitate.

Sign now to demand an immediate, comprehensive, trans-inclusive ban on conversion therapy across the UK.

Conversion practices are not "therapy." They are widely condemned by medical, psychological, and human rights organisations as harmful and abusive. Survivors have described trauma, depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation after being subjected to these so-called treatments.

And yet, despite commitments and repeated assurances, legislation continues to stall.

The ban must be comprehensive. It must include explicit protections for trans and non-binary people. It must criminalise the promotion, referral, and practice of conversion therapy in all settings, including religious contexts and under the false guise of "consent." And it must include real support for survivors and independent oversight to ensure accountability.

Other nations are already moving forward. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has called on countries to adopt clear legislation with criminal sanctions. Countries like Malta have shown it can be done. The UK should not be lagging behind.

Sign the petition to tell the government: stop the delay and deliver a full, loophole-free ban on conversion therapy now.
