Don't put Maria behind bars. A miscarraige is not a crime.

In November 2011 Maria Teresa was rushed to hospital after she was found in her home bleeding and almost unconscious.

Police detained and handcuffed Maria Teresa to her hospital bed.

Abortion is banned in El Salvador under all circumstances – even if the pregnancy is the result of rape or the life of the woman is in danger.

This draconian law has resulted in the wrongful prosecution of many women, including those like Maria Teresa who suffer miscarriages.

In May, a judge ruled there was insufficient evidence to convict Maria Teresa. She was finally released and reunited with her son, whom she hadn't seen in more than a year.

Today she's at risk of being ripped away from her son yet again, as the Attorney General threatens to contest her freedom.

Maria Teresa has suffered enough.

Tell the Attorney General not to appeal the ruling that set Maria free.
Dear Attorney-General,

I call on you to not appeal the judge's ruling that set María Teresa Rivera free.
