HSBC claims to be a climate leader. But it's still willing to fund coal – the dirtiest fossil fuel - in countries, where people are already suffering the effects of a changing climate.
Demand HSBC stops funding coal everywhere now.
HSBC is one of the biggest banks in the world. It has committed to help create the cleaner, safer energy we all need. Yet it's still willing to fund coal in in Vietnam, Bangladesh and Indonesia.
"…if the entire (Asia) region implements the coal-based plans right now, I think we are finished…That would spell disaster for our planet" Jim Yong Kim, World Bank President.
Furthermore, HSBC is funding all fossil fuels far more than renewable energy. The bank must have a plan for phasing out its finance of fossil fuels altogether.
Their actions are undermining the efforts of people striving to build a safer world. Put pressure on them to stop funding coal everywhere, now.
