Don't Leave Climate Out of the Debate

More than 4 out of 5 early primary voters say it's at least "very important" for a candidate to have a clear climate action plan — so why did moderators during one of the recent debates completely ignore the very clear will of the public, and not ask a single question about the climate crisis?

It's time for debate moderators to ask the serious questions. Add your preferred question to the text below, and send your message to moderators!

Here are some suggestions you can choose from:

  • How do you plan to address the fact that the climate crisis disproportionately affects low-income communities and people of color?
  • We know we can't avoid all of the effects of the climate crisis. What steps will you take to ensure America is resilient enough to weather what we can't ward off?
  • What steps will you take to ensure we're not putting any more pollution into the atmosphere than we can remove by 2050 at the latest — a deadline we need to hit in order to avoid a climate catastrophe?

Don't forget the climate questions

Dear [Decision Maker],

Americans deserve to know how the presidential candidates plan to address the climate crisis. In fact, more than 4 out of 5 voters in early primary states say it's at least "very important" that the candidates have a plan to tackle the climate crisis. It's up to you to make sure Americans hear what that plan is.
