Urge Malcolm Turnbull to Reject Adani's Influence and Protect Australia's Land and Democracy

In a move that threatens both the environment, the judicial system and the democratic process, billionaire Indian businessman Gautum Adani, has asked the Prime Minister of Australia to introduce laws that will stop green groups from going to court to prevent mining developments, according to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald.

Mr Adani has a special interest in making the request - as the story reports: "the Adani Group acquired the rights to develop the Carmichael coal mine in Galilee Basin of Queensland and a rail link with Abbot Point Port to ship the coal, but the project has been opposed by green groups."

There have been several challenges to the Adani project by environmentalists. As stated: In August Adani's federal environmental approval was set aside after a Federal Court challenge successfully showed the government failed to consider the impact of the project on two vulnerable species. Environment Minister Greg Hunt re-approved the project in October, but a fresh Federal Court challenge has been launched by the Australian Conservation Foundation."

The democratic rights of Australians are under threat, as is the judicial sydtem and the environment. Will you join me in urging Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to reject Adani's influence and to protect Australia's land and democracy?

Capitulating to the Adani request in itself undermines democracy and could have far-ranging consequences for resource questions and the role of the courts and the people in acting as responsible stewards of Australia's natural treasures.
