Stop the Big Polluter Agenda in Congress

From blocking protections for endangered species like gray wolves, to preventing action to stop climate change, to rolling back clean water protections, corporate polluters and their allies in Congress are waging war against the environment. What's worse, they're trying to sneak their assault into law by using must-pass spending bills to advance their agenda. We can stop them – but only if people like you and me fight back.

The NRDC Action Fund works to pressure lawmakers and politicians to represent you – not Big Polluters. We need to show your representatives that you're watching how they vote, and that you're counting on them to stop this legislative sneak attack.

Take action below to tell your representatives in Congress to vote against any spending bill that would hurt the environment!

Dear decision maker:

I urge you to vote against any spending bill that contains anti-environment riders that would put the corporate polluters' agenda ahead of the needs of our planet and people like me.

It's more urgent than ever for our nation’s leaders to take action to fight climate change and stand up for commonsense environmental protections. But many in Congress are doing the exact opposite, and forcing the Big Polluter Agenda on the public by sneaking anti-environment riders into must-pass spending bills. Among other disastrous effects, these riders would:

  • Prevent federal action on climate change, with provisions that include blocking implementation of the Clean Power Plan and preventing EPA from even assessing the impacts of climate change;

  • Block pollution limits for cars and trucks, power plants, and factory farms – limits needed to be sure we have clean air to protect the health of children and families;

  • Force open public lands, national forests, and other scenic wild areas to oil and gas drilling;

  • Block the EPA from cutting wasteful and climate-busting methane emissions from the oil and gas industry;

  • Block Endangered Species Act protections for many species, including endangered gray wolves in Wyoming, the Great Lakes, and the southwestern U.S.;

  • Force the EPA to approve glyphosates - toxic herbicides that are responsible for dramatic declines in monarch butterfly populations;

  • Roll back the landmark Clean Water Rule ps that would protect drinking water for millions of Americans;

  • Prevent the federal government from creating marine protected areas like the recently announced Northeast Canyons and Seamounts Marine National Monument off the New England coast and the expanded Northwest Hawaiian Islands Marine National Monument.

And that just scratches the surface of the damage that these riders would do. No wonder lawmakers are hiding them in unrelated spending bills.
