Take Action to Keep Protections for the Boundary Waters and its Wildlife
Moose, and many other species, depend on healthy habitat in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness for their survival. But those waters are now under threat by toxic sulfide-ore copper mining.
Congress is trying to use a legislative tool that will not only overturn protections from dangerous mining – it will prevent any administration from ever enacting similar safeguards.
It's up to our senators to stop this dangerous legislation that could devastate the Boundary Waters. Please stand up for moose, loon, lynx and all Boundary Waters wildlife by telling your senators not to overturn protections from mining.
Dear Senator,
The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is one of the most remote and wild landscapes in America, encompassing over a million acres of pristine water and woodlands. It provides habitat for 230 species of wildlife and contains one-fifth of all fresh water in the National Forest Service system. Removing protections that prohibit sulfide-ore copper mining in the surrounding area needlessly threatens a world-class fishing and hunting destination that attracts over 150,000 visitors annually.
Please vote "no" on the Congressional Review Act resolution that would not only overturn the current moratorium– it will prevent any future administration from ever proposing similar protections again.
Sincerely,
